PDM and Huws Gray Aspiring Managers Course: Jack’s Journey

Jack Cadenhead

Following our recent features on the success of the Aspiring Managers training course, we’re thrilled to spotlight another participant’s journey. This intensive program is designed to develop the next generation of leaders within the company, equipping participants with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in management roles.

This time, we’re highlighting Jack Cadenhead, Sales Advisor at East Kilbride. Jack’s story is a great example of how the course equips our team members with the skills and confidence to take on new challenges.

Jack first heard about the course when his Branch Manager shared the opportunity, following a company-wide email to managers. Recognising its potential, Jack quickly seized the chance.

“It was a no-brainer after looking at the modules,” Jack explained. “The topics—like developing leadership skills and improving communication—aligned perfectly with my goals for personal and professional growth.”

For Jack, the appeal of the course lay in its focus on leadership and communication, alongside gaining a broader understanding of the business. “I’m always keen to learn and develop,” he shared. “The course provided the perfect opportunity to enhance those skills and deepen my understanding of how the business operates behind the scenes.”

Jack particularly valued the collaborative nature of the program, highlighting the benefits of sharing ideas with colleagues from other branches. “The face-to-face sessions were incredible. Everyone brought unique perspectives, which added so much value beyond the core content. Sharing thoughts and ideas with people in similar roles really helped me get the most out of the experience,” he said.

Having completed the course, Jack feels more confident and effective in his current role. “One of the key takeaways for me was learning how to adapt my communication style to different people, whether they’re colleagues or customers. That’s made a huge difference in my day-to-day interactions,” he noted. Jack also feels prepared for future opportunities: “Should the chance arise to move forward in the business, I know I’ve gained the knowledge and skills to succeed.”

Advice for future participants

Jack’s advice for anyone considering the course? “Dive in and participate as much as possible, whether in face-to-face or online sessions. The more you engage, the more you’ll learn—not just from the course itself, but from the perspectives of others.” He also emphasised the networking opportunities: “You’ll build relationships with staff across other branches, which not only enhances your confidence but also broadens your understanding of the company as a whole.”

We’re proud to celebrate Jack’s achievements and look forward to seeing the impact of his growth on the wider business.

Congratulations, Jack!
